Halloween dinner at O’sonho Restaurant

http://kleypas.wordpress.com/2011/12/07/osonho-restaurant/

For the second year in a row, we had our Halloween Dinner at Eastwood. Before getting there, Jo SMSed us a list of restaurants to choose from. I vaguely remember texting back Kogi Bulgogi or Choi Palace as my choices. Apparently, I was outvoted and O’sonho won. I was OK with it because I don’t think I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant that identifies itself as Purtuguese Fusion.

The restaurant’s ambiance is perfect for a relaxed dinner with friends and family, or maybe a date with that special someone. The walls are peppered with a vast selection of wines. Forgive my ignorant arse because I don’t know a thing about wines and shite so just the sight of wine bottles sends my brain some “high-end” signals. LOL.

Three of us got there first so we decided to order ahead and split the food among us three. The server might have mentioned the Peri Peri chicken as their bestseller so we opted for it - Peri-Peri Chicken on Fragrant Chicken Rice (P320) and Peri-Peri Chicken Pasta (P310). Rice and pasta, yes, you read that right. Not exactly the perfect combination but we went for it anyway.

Peri Peri chicken is your usual roasted chicken but marinated in special peri peri sauce. Peri Peri (or piri piri) is actually a kind of chili so expect dishes with this kind of sauce to pack some heat.

O’sonho’s Peri Peri Chicken did not disappoint. It had the right amount of zing from the peri peri sauce and the chicken was really tender. The pasta was perfectly cooked al dente, too. The chicken was so good in fact the rest of us ended up ordering the same thing! So much deliciousness! :)

We also got their Salmon Croquettes  and they were equally good.

For drinks, Nero and I shared a bowl of their O’sonho Iced Lemon Tea (P140). It was also good except that they put too much ice on it that it kind of got diluted halfway through the dinner.

All in all, it was a nice dinner. I would definitely go back to O’sonho again to try their other dishes (I already got my eye on the Portuguese Gambas).

Til our next Halloween Dinner! =)
